KUKA Robotics FVC Grant Program

KUKA Robotics is sponsoring a limited number of grants to teams participating in this tournament. Funding is available to help defray the cost of starting a new team. Please click here for grant application materials. The application is due by 5:00 on February 20.

FIRST Vex Challenge Team Registration

All teams participating in the KUKA Robotics FVC Championship must be officially registered with the FIRST Vex Challenge program. You may begin the FIRST Vex Challenge “Team” registration process at: http://www.usfirst.org/community/fvc/content.aspx?id=750

Once you have an official “Team” registration, you may proceed to sign up for an “event”. There are over 25 sanctioned FIRST FVC Championship events around the country this season. The KUKA Robotics FVC Championship is the only one in the upper Midwest this year. This is a qualifying event for the “FIRST Vex Challenge World Championship” to be held in Atlanta at the Georgia Dome on April 12-13.

FIRST Vex Challenge Event Registration

REGISTRATION: You will need to register each team individually. Registration is a two step process. First, you must set up your account. To do this go to the Vex page and, click on "Register a New Team" (or click here). Select "Vex Robotics League" from the pull down menu and enter your official FVC team ID (from FIRST). Please enter the requested contact information and select a password. Once your account is set up, you will be able to log in to the site using your username and password. Your username will be Vteamid (Ex. If you are team 9, your username is V00009. If you are team 750, your username is V00750).

Once you have an account, you can log in and register for the KUKA Vex Robotics Championship. Log in and go to the Vex page. On the left hand side, you will see a variety of options to provide and update team information. Click on the "Sign up for Events" button adn select "KUKA Robotics Champoinship." After signing up for the event, you can either pay the $50 fee online by using the Paypal link or by mailing a check (payable to Space Education Initiatives) to:

HOST: The KUKA Robotics FIRST Vex Challenge Championship will be hosted by Xavier high School, 1600 W Prospect Avenue in Appleton, WI. (map link) on Saturday March 17, 2007.

SCHEDULE: The tournament will be an all day event officially beginning at 8:00am and ending at 6:00pm. An approximate outline of the day is provided below, a final schedule of the day will be available by February 28th. It will be baed on the actual number of teams in attendance.

DEADLINE: This tournament has a capacity for 48 teams. Registration will remain open until the event reaches capacity or February 19, 2007. Any requests to attend made after 2/19/07 are subject to approval by the tournament planning committee and will be based on event logistics.

FEE: The cost for a team to participate in this event will be $50.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION: When you show up at the tournament you must have a signed FIRST “Consent form” for each participant, available at ConsentandReleaseForm2.pdf

ACCOMODATIONS: Working with the Fox Cities Convention & Visitors Bureau hotel blocks are being setup for FVC teams. The area has many nice hotels with indoor pools at reasonable rates.

GAME: The game will be the official 2006-07 FVC game “Hangin’-A-Round”. Any and all questions pertaining to the game and how it is played should be directed to FIRST support staff at http://forums.usfirst.org/forumdisplay.php?f=26

AWARDS: The event will be run in accordance with the guidelines established by FIRST for an FVC event.

ENTERTAINMENT: We are working to put together a unique entertainment option for teams to participate in Friday evening.
